From Wa, trotros and shared taxis run toward Nadowli, with a short additional connection to Nakore (about 1–1.5 hours total, GHS 15–20). From Tamale, first travel to Wa (roughly 3–4 hours) before continuing to Nakore.
Dress modestly, ask permission before entering or photographing, and avoid visiting during active prayer times.
Drove almost two hours from Wa only to find the site basically unmarked, we had to ask three different people for directions and almost gave up. Once we found it there was nobody around to explain anything.
Small and quiet, took about 20 minutes to see. Non Muslims can't enter so you're mainly appreciating it from outside.
A bit out of the way but worth it for anyone into West African Islamic architecture. The Sudanese style with the wooden stick supports is a photographer's dream.
The mud and timber construction is incredible when you consider how old this building is. Small village, very peaceful, and the imam was kind enough to let us view the exterior up close.
