From Accra, take a Cape Coast-bound trotro or STC bus from Kaneshie and alight at Anomabo (about 2-2.5 hours, GHS 30-40); the fort overlooks the town center and is a short walk from the main road. From Cape Coast, trotros to Anomabo run frequently (about 30-40 minutes, GHS 5-8).
There's no formal ticket booth. Ask in town for the caretaker who holds the keys. A small tip for a guided walk-through is appreciated and helps maintain the site. Wear sturdy shoes for uneven stone stairs.
Quick stop on our coastal road trip. Small entry fee, maybe GHS 10. Good view of the town and ocean from the ramparts.
Barely any signage explaining what you're looking at. Could be a great site with some investment. The lighthouse itself is a cool structure at least.
Nobody talks about this fort but it has real history, one of the busiest slave-trading ports on the coast. Caretaker on site gave us a decent rundown even without a formal tour. A bit run down inside though.
Small lighthouse fort, took maybe 30 minutes to see everything. Not as developed as Cape Coast or Elmina but interesting if you're already in Anomabo. Views over the fishing port are nice from the top.
