From Cape Coast, trotros heading toward Twifo Praso or Assin Fosu pass the Kakum turnoff at Abrafo village (about 30 minutes, GHS 8-10); a shared or private taxi from Cape Coast costs roughly GHS 80-120 round trip including wait time. From Accra, the park is a 3.5-4 hour drive via Cape Coast. Most visitors combine it with the castles as a day trip.
The walkway sways and has height restrictions for young children, so skip it if you're afraid of heights. Wear closed shoes, bring water, and arrive early to beat both the heat and tour-bus crowds. Overnight canopy camping must be booked in advance.
Best canopy walk I've done anywhere. Guide pointed out several bird species along the way. Road from Cape Coast is decent tarmac, about 40 minutes by car.
Went on a weekend and it was way too crowded, long queue for the walkway. Would go on a weekday next time. The forest itself is lovely, lots of birdsong once you're away from the crowds.
Fun but a little scary if you don't like heights, the bridges bounce more than you'd think. Kids loved it though. Café at the entrance is basic, don't expect much food-wise.
Beautiful rainforest, way bigger than I expected at 375 square km. We only did the canopy walk but you could easily spend a full day here with the hiking trails too. Bring bug spray.
Get there early, like before 8am, the walkway sways a lot more once big tour groups start crossing. 30 meters up feels higher than it sounds. Bring sneakers, not sandals. Entry plus canopy fee was around GHS 80 for foreigners.
