From Tamale, travel via Gambaga/Nalerigu toward Nakpanduri (roughly 3.5-4 hours by shared taxi or private vehicle over a mix of paved and unpaved roads). From Accra, take an STC/VIP bus to Tamale (10-12 hours) and continue by road; a 4WD is recommended for the final stretch in the rainy season.
Stay overnight at the local guest house if you want sunrise and sunset light without a long drive back to Tamale. Bring a jacket for cooler evening temperatures at elevation, and watch your footing near the unfenced cliff edge.
Stopped here on our way through the Northeast region and it turned into the highlight of the day. No barriers at the cliff edge so keep an eye on kids if you bring them.
Easy to reach compared to other parts of the escarpment, road is decent gravel most of the way. Views are dramatic and it's usually just you and maybe a couple other visitors up there.
Most accessible spot along the Gambaga Escarpment and the payoff is huge, cliff edge panorama stretching across the plains below. Sunset here was unreal, golden light on the rock face. Bring a jacket, wind picks up as the sun goes down.
