From Bolgatanga, trotros and shared taxis to Paga run frequently along the N2 highway (about 45 minutes, GHS 10–15). From Tamale, take an intercity STC or VIP bus to Bolgatanga first (roughly 2.5–3 hours), then connect to Paga.
Never touch a crocodile without the guide's direct instruction, wear closed shoes for the muddy bank, and carry small cash denominations for guide and craft purchases.
The crocodile part was cool but we were hounded for extra tips at every step, even after paying the entry fee. Made the experience feel less genuine than I hoped.
Sacred pond with a real cultural story behind it, not just a tourist gimmick. The community explained why the crocodiles are protected here. Great experience for the whole family.
Fun stop right before crossing into Burkina Faso. My kids were nervous at first but the handlers made it comfortable. Pond area could use better shade for waiting visitors.
The handlers coax the crocodiles out with live chickens and then you can sit right beside one for a photo. Felt safe the whole time, they clearly know these animals well. GHS 20 per person plus a small fee if you want to touch the tail.
