From Bolgatanga, trotros to Navrongo run frequently (about 30 minutes, GHS 8–10). From Tamale, connect via Bolgatanga first (roughly 2.5–3 hours), then continue to Navrongo.
Dress modestly, ask parish staff for a tour of the murals and roof construction, and be respectful during active services.
Interesting from the outside but we couldn't get access to see the murals inside during our visit, the caretaker wasn't around. Worth calling ahead if that's the main draw for you.
As someone who has seen a lot of churches across Ghana, this one stands out completely because of the mud construction technique. A real hidden piece of colonial-era architecture done in local materials.
Unique architecture you won't find replicated anywhere else in Ghana. Interior was cooler than expected thanks to the thick mud walls. Bit hard to find, ask locals for exact directions.
Hard to believe a cathedral this size was built from mud and straw using Kassena construction techniques over a century ago. The interior murals are worth the visit alone. A caretaker let us in and shared some of the building's history for a small donation.
