From Sefwi Wiawso, trotros run toward Sefwi Debiso and Bia West's district towns (about 1.5–2 hours), from where a Forestry Commission vehicle or motorbike taxi covers the final leg to the ranger station. From Kumasi, first travel to Sefwi Wiawso via Bibiani (about 4–5 hours total).
Book a ranger guide ahead of time, wear waterproof hiking boots, and bring insect repellent and your own drinking water.
Right on the Cote d'Ivoire border which adds an interesting frontier feel to the whole trip. Endangered primate sightings made it memorable even though the drive was long.
Guide was good but we didn't see much beyond monkeys and birds, the bigger wildlife stays well hidden. Trail was muddy in a few spots.
Long drive to get here from Kumasi, close to 5 hours, but the forest itself is worth it if you want something wilder than Kakum. Facilities are minimal so come prepared.
Untouched is the right word, we spotted colobus monkeys and heard forest sounds you just don't get in more visited parks. Ranger-led walk was excellent, he knew every bird call.
