Best time to visit
Weekends for the full atmosphere, though weekdays are far quieter. Dry season (November-March) has the calmest water for both river and ocean swimming.

By car or taxi, take the Accra-Ada road (via Tema and Sege), roughly 90 minutes to 2 hours from central Accra depending on traffic. By trotro, board a vehicle to 'Ada Foah' from Tema Station; the journey takes about 2 hours, with a short local taxi or okada onward to the beach itself.
Plan for an overnight stay if possible; the drive alone makes a rushed day trip less worthwhile. Negotiate boat prices upfront, and bring cash as card payment is unreliable this far from the city.
Nice scenery but road conditions getting there were rough in a couple stretches, slowed us down a lot. Once you arrive it's a lovely place to unwind though.
Peaceful spot, good for kayaking on the river side and swimming on the ocean side. Bring cash, card payment isn't reliable out there.
About two hours from Accra depending on traffic. Beach itself is beautiful and less crowded than Labadi. Some resorts nearby if you want to make it an overnight trip rather than a day visit.
Where the Volta River meets the Atlantic, and you can genuinely see the two waters meeting in different colors. Took a boat tour that circled around, easily the best weekend trip we did from Accra.
