Address
Techiman Central Market, Techiman Municipal, Bono East Region, Ghana
Techiman sits directly on the Kumasi–Tamale highway; STC, VIP, and Metro Mass buses stop here regularly (about 3 hours from Kumasi). The market is a short walk from the main lorry station in the town centre.
Keep bags zipped and valuables close, bring small denomination cedi notes for bargaining, and go early to beat both the crowds and the midday heat.
As someone from the area I still find this market impressive every time. If you want to see cross-border trade happening in real time this is the place.
Got separated from my group almost immediately, it's genuinely that crowded on a main market day. No real signage or landmarks to help you find your way back to where you started.
Interesting to walk through but overwhelming if you're not used to markets this size. Hard to navigate without someone local showing you around.
Massive market with traders coming from as far as Burkina Faso and Cote d'Ivoire on the main market days. Best prices on yams and other produce I've found anywhere in the region. Go early before it gets too crowded.
