Trotros to 'Cantonments' or 'Airport Residential' from Circle or Osu stop within walking distance. From the Airport, a taxi/Bolt ride takes about 10 minutes; from Osu or Labadi, about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic.
Combine with a visit to nearby Cantonments cafes for lunch. The grounds are peaceful and shaded, a good midday break from Accra's heat.
As an African American visiting Ghana this was one of the most meaningful stops on our trip. Learning about his final years here added depth to the whole visit.
Compact site, maybe 45 minutes to see everything, but the story is powerful. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable about his life and legacy.
Not many other visitors when we went which made it feel personal. Good context on Pan-Africanism and Du Bois's decision to become a Ghanaian citizen late in life. Worth the visit for diaspora travelers especially.
Small compound but full of meaning, Du Bois's actual home and burial site. The library room with his personal collection was a highlight for me. Peaceful gardens make it a nice break from the city noise outside.
