Year-round due to the cooler highland climate, though November-February offers the clearest long-distance views from Mount Gemi; early morning light is best for photography.

From Accra, take an STC bus or shared taxi to Ho (about 3-3.5 hours), then a trotro from Ho station toward Vane/Amedzofe junction, followed by a shared taxi up the escarpment road to Amedzofe village (roughly 1-1.5 hours total from Ho). The final approach road climbs steeply. Expect a bumpy but scenic ride.
Pack a light jacket or fleece. Evenings genuinely get chilly compared to the rest of Volta. The summit path has some loose gravel sections, so wear shoes with grip rather than sandals.
Stayed overnight at a small guesthouse and woke up to fog rolling through the valley below the village, absolutely worth the early climb up to Mount Gemi for sunrise.
Views were nice but it was foggy when we visited so we didn't get the big panorama everyone talks about. Would try again in dry season.
Nice change of pace from the heat down in Ho. The walk up to the cross takes about 30-40 minutes and isn't too steep. Village itself is sleepy and pleasant to wander through.
Amedzofe is Ghana's highest village and you feel it in the temperature, so much cooler than Ho. The cross on Mount Gemi is a short climb from the village and the 360 view over the valley is incredible on a clear day.
