From Accra, travel by STC bus or shared taxi to Ho (about 3-3.5 hours), then connect with a trotro toward Golokwati/Tafi Atome and ask to alight at Tafi Abuipe junction, a short walk or okada ride from the village centre. Easily combined with a Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary visit on the same trip, as both villages sit along the same road.
Bring cash. Most weavers don't accept mobile money or cards for smaller purchases. If buying a full cloth, ask about the pattern's name and meaning; most weavers are happy to explain.
Small village stop but a good one, the loom setups are fascinating and the Ewe weaving patterns here are distinct from what I've seen elsewhere.
Interesting but a lot of pressure to buy once you're there. The weaving demonstration itself was cool, just wish it felt less like a sales pitch.
Skip the markets in the city and come here instead. You get to see exactly how the cloth is made and talk to the weavers themselves about the patterns and what they mean.
Watched weavers working the traditional looms right in the village, really cool to see how much time goes into a single kente strip. Bought a small piece directly from the weaver, cheaper than what you'd pay in Accra.
