From Sunyani, trotros to Kenyasi run via Goaso (about 2 hours). From Kumasi, connect through Goaso before continuing south to Kenyasi by shared taxi.
Arrange your visit through the palace linguist ahead of time, bring a small courtesy gift, and dress modestly.
Drove almost an hour from Sunyani to see this and was told outsiders needed permission arranged in advance that nobody mentioned online. Wasted trip. If there's a process, someone should publish it.
Got lucky and arrived during a small durbar preparation, saw drummers rehearsing in the courtyard. Even without that it's a striking building for a town this size.
As a tourist I wasn't totally sure what to do here, just parked outside and looked at the building. Would help to have someone from the palace on hand to explain things to visitors who show up unannounced.
We stopped by after visiting the museum nearby. Someone from the palace staff let us into the courtyard and explained a bit about the Kenyasi Traditional Area. Can't go inside the main rooms but the compound itself is worth seeing.
