From Tamale's Aboabo station, shared taxis and trotros run the roughly 25km/40-minute route to Kumbungu along the Tamale-Kumbungu road throughout the day. From Accra, take an STC bus to Tamale (10-12 hours) or fly in (1 hour), then continue to Kumbungu by taxi.
Roads can be dusty and rougher than in Tamale. A tro-tro or shared taxi is more practical than a private car in rainy season. Dress modestly, as this is a working mosque with an active, close-knit congregation.
Nice architecture and the people we met in the town were very welcoming. Roads getting there had a few rough patches but nothing our taxi couldn't handle.
Just a mosque in a quiet district capital, no facilities for tourists really. Fine if you're already passing through Kumbungu district but not worth a special trip.
Quiet and peaceful, a nice change from the busier Tamale mosque. Short drive out of the city, maybe 30 minutes. Not much else around it so combine with other district stops.
