Take a trotro from Kejetia station in Kumasi toward Mponua/Ntonso via the Kwabre East road (about 15km, 25-30 minutes, GHS 8-10). A taxi or Bolt from central Kumasi takes roughly 25 minutes and costs about GHS 40-60 one way.
Bring old clothes or a smock if you want to try stamping; the badie dye stains permanently. Cash only for cloth purchases. Ask before photographing individual craftsmen closely at work.
Good little stop on the way back from Bonwire. The hand-stamping demonstration was interesting and the artisans were patient with our questions.
Nice to see the process but it was very quick, maybe 25 minutes total including the demonstration. Wish there was more to see or do while there.
Really cool craft village, small but authentic. Bought a stamped cloth for GHS 60 directly from the artisan who made it.
They let us try stamping adinkra symbols ourselves using the traditional dye made from tree bark, such a fun hands-on experience. The artisans explained the meaning behind each symbol which made it more special. About an hour from Kumasi by trotro plus a short walk.
