Fort Road, near Kejetia, Kumasi, Ashanti Region
The fort sits close to Kejetia in central Kumasi. From Adum, it's a 15-20 minute walk or a 5-10 minute taxi/Bolt ride. Most trotros terminating at Kejetia station leave you within easy walking distance.
Ask for a guide at the entrance; the siege history is far more compelling with narration. Wear comfortable shoes as the fort involves stairs and uneven stone floors. Photography is generally permitted but confirm with staff for restricted areas.
Decent but small. We finished in under 40 minutes. Some display cases had labels that were hard to read, faded or peeling.
Way more detailed than I expected. The section on Ghanaian soldiers in WWII isn't something you learn about in regular school history and it was fascinating.
Solid stop if you're into military history. The old cannons out front and the exhibits on the 1900 Yaa Asantewaa war were the best parts for me.
Old colonial fort with a military museum inside. Some interesting artifacts from WWI and WWII West African campaigns but the building itself could use maintenance.
