Best time to visit
November to February (dry season) gives the clearest trails and best photography light in the morning; the falls carry more water and are more dramatic June to September, though trails get muddier.

From Accra's Tudu or Ashaiman station, take an intercity STC or VIP bus to Hohoe (about 4.5-5 hours). From Hohoe lorry station, a shared trotro or shared taxi runs the 20-minute stretch to Wli Agorviefe village. Ask for 'Wli Falls trotro station.' From Wli, it's a short walk to the sanctuary gate where you register and pick up a guide before the trailhead.
Wear quick-dry clothing and grippy footwear. The river crossings and final approach are slippery. Bring a dry bag for phones and cameras. The upper falls hike is genuinely strenuous; only attempt it with a guide and plenty of water.
Loved the multiple bridge crossings on the trail, felt like a proper little adventure. The bat colony at the base of the falls was unexpected and kind of amazing once the sun caught them flying.
Nice waterfall but overhyped by how much people talk about it online. Lower falls is basically a short pleasant walk, not the epic hike some reviews suggest unless you go for the upper falls.
Grew up hearing about Wli from my mother and finally made the trip from Accra. The lower falls swim was everything I hoped for. Go on a weekday if you can, weekends get crowded fast.
Did the lower falls with my kids, easy trail with several stream crossings on wooden bridges. Water was freezing but so refreshing after the walk. Entry fee was 30 cedis plus a small guide tip.
The hike to the upper falls is no joke, steep and about 2-3 hours round trip, but the view from up there over the valley makes it worth it. Lower falls is the easy 45 minute walk if you just want to see the falls and swim. Bats swarming overhead at the lower falls is wild to see.
