Morning hours (9:00 AM - 11:00 AM) for cooler temperatures and shorter queues; avoid midday heat as much of the outdoor park has limited shade.

High Street, Accra Central, near Old Parliament House
Trotros from Circle, Kaneshie, or Tema Station running to 'Ministries' or 'Cathedral' stop within a 5-10 minute walk. From Osu or Labadi, a taxi/Bolt ride is roughly 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. The park sits in central Accra, walkable from the Arts Centre and Independence Square.
Hire one of the on-site guides. The history is far richer with narration than reading plaques alone. Photography inside the museum building itself may be restricted; check at the entrance.
Interesting but smaller than expected, we were done in under 40 minutes. Some of the museum plaques were hard to read due to glare. Still worth a visit for the history alone.
Good introduction to Ghana's independence story for a first time visitor like me. Central location makes it easy to combine with other Accra sights on foot.
Took my kids here for a school holiday trip, good mix of history and open space to walk around. Statue of Nkrumah is a popular photo spot. Guides available if you want the deeper story.
Well kept grounds, fountains and gardens make it a pleasant walk even before you get to the history. Museum could use some updated displays but the story it tells is powerful.
The marble mausoleum is striking, and the museum walks you through the independence movement really well with original photos and artifacts. Standing where Nkrumah declared independence in 1957 gave me chills. Entry around GHS 20.
